Marketing, Production and Promotional Services We’ve all been to meetings, lectures and conventions where some of the more popular items that the presenters sell are books and DVDs on how to market yourself as a performer. I know, I have a stack of them right here. They’re the only magic books that I have that don’t end up in one of my son’s rooms, because I truly treasure every one of them. But those items, while giving us good ideas, don’t always get implemented because, quite frankly, it can be a daunting task. You may know what you need but how do you find the people to do it, and how do you afford it? That’s where Custom Magic Cards comes in. I have been working in computer graphics since 1990. I’ve also taught courses in computer graphics — including print, web, video and animation — corporately since 1991 and at the college level since 1996. I have worked in ad agencies, service bureaus and a wide variety of graphic shops, as well as having my own freelance business as a designer. Yes, I’m dropping names because they are pretty much the largest company in the world, and I think the fact that they were my client is pretty cool. Here’s the marketing secret: You can have tickets printed with your show information on one side. Then you get a local restaurant, hamburger joint or pizza place to advertise on the back of the ticket with their logo, information and a coupon for your audience to save a dollar or two on a meal after the show. Your audience gets a nice bonus, the restaurant gets great advertising, you get really cool tickets for your show that can include numbering and a perforated stub to tear off, and you can either cover the full cost of the tickets with the restaurant advertisement or even make some money from it.
